In a factory in Huashen Science and Technology Park in Panyu, Guangzhou, the sound of machines running continues from eight in the morning until night. This is not an OEM factory or an assembly workshop, but the real 'headquarters' of Guangzhou SevenCloud Technology—from circuit board soldering and mechanical assembly to software debugging and whole machine testing, every unmanned retail device is born here.

What exactly does 'source factory' mean?
'Many people ask us, what is a source factory?' said the production manager of SevenCloud Technology. 'Simply put, it means that everything from blueprints to finished products, from code to sheet metal, is done in our own hands.' This means that when customers make requests such as 'adding a local e-wallet to the payment method,' 'reducing the machine height by 10 centimeters,' or 'the lightbox can be quickly replaced,' SevenCloud does not need to consult with suppliers at every level. The R&D and production lines are in the same park, and engineers and technicians can communicate face-to-face, and can evaluate and adjust the plan as quickly as the same day and the next day.
This capability often takes weeks or even months for manufacturers that rely on external supply chains.
Self-production and self-sales: Cutting out the middleman and leaving the profits to the product and the customer.
In the retail equipment industry, the traditional model typically involves brands outsourcing production to contract manufacturers, who then sell the products through distributors. SevenClouds Technology has chosen a more 'heavy' but more direct path: self-production and self-sales.
The term 'heavy' refers to the large investment required—building production lines, maintaining technical teams, and managing quality control. However, the benefits are also obvious: there are no middlemen taking a cut, no information distortion, and no after-sales service delays.
A customer from Southeast Asia once commented: 'When I bought machines from other companies before, if there was a problem, I would first contact the agent, and then the agent would contact the manufacturer. This whole process would take half a month. With SevenCloud, I can directly connect with engineers. Sometimes, a video call is all it takes to solve the problem remotely.'
The products themselves speak for themselves: from ice cream robots to coffee machines, they're all 'homegrown' products.
Stepping into SevenCloud's exhibition area, you'll see fully automatic ice cream robots, cotton candy machines, popcorn machines, coffee machines, and more. These devices may look different, but they all share the same core logic: stability, ease of maintenance, and remote management.
For example, their star product, the SI-321 fully automatic ice cream robot, dispenses ice cream in 30 seconds and offers 32 flavor combinations. Behind these features is a self-developed control system. If the machine malfunctions, the system will proactively push alerts to the maintenance personnel's mobile phone and can even make a preliminary judgment on whether the problem lies with the pump, compressor, or circuitry.
'Because we wrote both the software and hardware ourselves, we know what the 'cause' might correspond to for each 'symptom',' the R&D engineer explained.
It's not just about selling equipment, it's about selling 'controllability'.
For chain brands, scenic spots, and large shopping malls, purchasing equipment is not just about buying a machine, but about buying 'certainty'—certainty that it will have few failures, that it will be easy to maintain, and that it will respond quickly.
On SevenCloud Technology's production line, each piece of equipment undergoes at least 48 hours of aging testing before leaving the factory. It repeatedly runs through simulated real-world operating scenarios—pouring, stirring, serving, cleaning—to ensure continuous operation after delivery.
“Unmanned retail equipment often operates 24/7 and is placed in high-traffic areas. If it stops, it will damage the brand image. So we prioritize reliability, even if it means higher costs,” said the production manager.
Looking ahead: Continuing to focus on manufacturing, making smart devices more reliable.
Despite the hype surrounding artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, SevenClouds Technology maintains that it is 'a manufacturing company.' The team believes that even the most intelligent functions ultimately require stable hardware to be implemented.
Next, SevenClouds plans to further upgrade its production lines, introducing more refined quality inspection processes, and enhancing its remote equipment maintenance capabilities. They hope that in the future, customers will see not only sales data on their mobile phones, but also more forward-looking information such as equipment health status predictions and component lifespan reminders.
'The essence of retail is service, and equipment is the carrier of service. What we want to do is to create machines that are more reliable and better understand business,' the founder summarized.
Starting from its factory in Panyu, Guangzhou, SevenClouds Technology's equipment has entered multiple markets worldwide. There's no glamorous business model story, just machines rolling off their own production lines and being shipped directly to customers' sites—this is perhaps the most straightforward expression of a 'source factory.'
